Well...this book has been on my to read list long before it became a movie, and now that the movie is finally on DVD - I have read it. All I can say is .....
meh...
I had heard so many great things about this book, and so many people that I respect have spoken fondly of this book, so I'm surprised that I didn't love it. The 5th Wave is a dystopian alien invasion novel about Cassie who must survive in a world depleted by large tsunami type waves. Cassie is among the last unlucky enough to have survived the first 4 waves. Think John Green, meets The Walking Dead, meets...I don't know...some movie where everybody drowns. I did listen to this on audiobook, and it could be that I just didn't care for the narration, which - to be honest - wasn't bad. I don't know...after reading The Pact, I just wanted this to be over.
Recommendation: If you like dystopians where everyone kills one another...this is for you.
Audience: Young Adults (Grade 9 and up)
