I held my breath for 38 pages.
Warsan Shire's poetry is piercing, electric, it won't break your heart, it'll eat it.
I came across this book on Amazon's new Prime Reading, and I was not ready. Shire speaks of abuse, and the life struggles of her Somali family. I'll probably need to re-read and dissect and analyze. It's been awhile since I've been so affected by poetry, and I welcome it. I've been suffering through a lot of books, and I appreciated this. I deserved this.
Recommendation: Read it!
